Miss Misty Lown

Miss Misty has been sharing her passion for dance and mentorship with students for 25 years. She is the founder of More Than Just Great Dancing™ affiliated dance studios and “A Chance to Dance Foundation”, a 501(c)3 charitable organization. Misty is passionate about community service and has given over $150,000 in combined cash and studio scholarships over the past 15 years.

Miss Shayna Stellflue

Miss Shayna is the School Director of Misty’s Dance Unlimited and leads a staff of 27 teachers. She is in her 17th year of teaching at MDU and is the creator of “Dancin’ Kids!”, a popular performance group for 7-9 yr. olds. Miss Shayna recently co-authored a Children’s Curriculum for More Than Just Great Dancing™ and is passionate about instilling confidence in every child.

Miss Tiffany Fischer

Miss Tiffany grew up dancing at MDU and has many teaching for many years. She is an award winning choreographer. Miss Tiffany is proficient in all styles of dance and has a passion for seeing students develop their God-given talents in a nurturing environment.

Miss Amanda Schams

Miss Amanda has taught ballet and Pilates across the Midwest for two decades and for 11 years at MDU. She trained in Madison, with the Milwaukee Ballet and the Nutmeg Conservatory. She graduated from the U of Iowa with a dance minor. She has performed professionally with the Madison Ballet and as a guest artist throughout the Midwest.

Miss Jessica Apfel-Miller

Jessica brings over 25 years of ballet, tap, and jazz teaching experience to MDU. She has been an instructor since MDU opened. Miss Jessica is also the owner of “Rooms by Jess”, an interior decorating business. Miss Jessica is passionate about inclusion and creating healthy environments for young women to grow in confidence.

Miss Liz Camacho

Miss Liz is in her 5th year of teaching at MDU. Miss Liz has performed for Walt Disney World in Florida and has choreographed for the award winning Onalaska High School Dance Team. Miss Liz has a passion for mentoring and creating experiences of welcome for our families.

Miss Bev Dumonski

Miss Bev has been teaching ballet for 4 decades throughout the United States and most recently at MDU for 7 years. Miss Bev’s background includes owning a dance studio in Connecticut and working as an archeologist! Miss Bev is a classical dance specialist with a passion for inspiring the next generation to excellence and joy!

Miss Alexia Sonnek

Miss Alexia has studied various styles of dance, but has a special love of Hip Hop and Lyrical. She is a former member of MDU’s Performance Company and currently leads our Steps of Praise program in which dancers can share their love of God through dance. Miss Alexia enjoys working with children of all ages to help them grow as dancers and individuals.

Miss Beth Michelson

Miss Beth has been dancing for 20 years. Her favorite genres include tap, musical theatre, and contemporary. Beth shared her love for performing for many years as a member of MDU’s Performance Company. She is a 2013 graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in Elementary Education and Spanish. She has danced with Ingredients Dance Company in Texas and currently teaches at both MDU and Allegro School of Dance in Rochester where she is also the Performance Company Director.

Mr. Dennis Williams

Mr. Dennis comes to us from Mission Viejo, California where he started training in classical ballet at Maple Conservatory of Dance. In May of 2014, he graduated with a BFA in dance at Belhaven University. While at Belhaven, Mr. Williams performed in artist works including Donald McKayle’s “Songs of the Disinherited” under the direction of Stephanie Powell and Randall Flinn’s “Hymns”. He also danced professionally as a Russian in Ballet Mississippi’s Nutcracker under David Keary. This past year he was a founding member of Filter Dance Company in Champaign, IL. Additionally, he has four years of experience in Martial Arts. His desire is that his passion and excellence in dance, as well as the way he lives his life will exemplify Christ.

Miss Kylie Williams

Miss Kylie returns to MDU after graduating from Belhaven University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance and a minor in accounting. She is the Director of our Award Winning Performance Company! Miss Kylie performed as one of the featured dancers at Miss Wisconsin in 2010 and 2011. She has worked with choreographers associated with Complexions, Ad Deum, Storling Dance Theater, Inaside Chicago, Dancing with the Stars, and Limon Dance Company. Before starting college, she was honored to be awarded as part of the 2009 and 2010 Wisconsin All-State Dance Team. She made her first film appearance as a dancer in the feature film, Pitch Perfect 2. She is thrilled to be back and to be a part of the growth of each dancer as not only an artist, but as a person.

Miss Carlie Flaherty

Miss Carlie is new to MDU! She is a 2013 graduate of UW – Eau Claire. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communication and a Minor in Dance. Carlie grew up dancing in the Richland Center area and now lives in Dakota, MN with her husband. She is excited to share her love of dance and children at MDU.

Miss Michelle Malone

Beginning her dance training at age 11, Michelle became a well-rounded dancer at Misty’s Dance Unlimited. After graduating from high school her professional study of dance began in the Kansas City area with Storling Dance theatre. Michelle has been teaching for 5 years and is currently focusing on hip hop, breakdance, tap, jazz, and lyrical.

Miss Alex Meier

Miss Alex is in her fourth year teaching at MDU. She is a ballet and tap specialist with a love for children. She is a graduate of Winona State University.

Miss Denise Meyer

Miss Denise and Miss Misty grew up dancing together at Marilyn School of Dance in La Crosse. Miss Denise is currently an English professor at Western and is excited to be back in the dance classroom.

Miss Larissa Oberly

Miss Larissa is a former professional ballerina with the Estonian National Ballet in Europe. She teaches for MDU's Pre-Professional Program and our classical performing company, Ballet La Crosse.

Miss Debbie White

Miss Debbie started studying dance at age 15 at the former College of St. Teresa in Winona, MN. She performed with the Minnesota Collegiate Ballet Company for 2 years. She studied at the National Academy of Dance in Champaign, IL during high school. Later she taught and performed at the Rochester Ballet School in MN. She studied, danced, and taught several years at the Alvin Ailey School in New York City.

Miss Katie Reischl

Miss Katie is a MDU grad with a Musical Theater degree from UW-L. She is in her fifth year teaching at MDU and is very active with the La Crosse Community Theater.

Miss Krisa Roggensack

Miss Krisa is another MDU grad who returned to the studio following college graduation. She is a jazz and hip hop specialist and the former coach of the award winning UW-Green Bay dance team.

Miss Isabella Lown

Miss Isabella has been dancing pretty much since she was born. She is currently a student at Aquinas High School, a member of our Senior Performance Company, Ballet La Crosse and a member of the award winning Aquinas Dance Team. Miss Isabella has studied at Nutmeg Conservatory and Texas Ballet Theater and is an award winning choreographer.

Miss Abby Inglett

Miss Abby has studied dance for over ten years. She joined the pre-professional ballet program at MDU in addition to her night classes and performance company rehearsals. Abby performed at the Youth American Grand Prix national ballet competition in for several years and has placed in the top twenty-four! She has performed many lead roles for Ballet La Crosse and the Children's Dance Theatre.

Miss Amy Fortner

After doing gymnastics through her sophomore year of college, Amy still has a passion for the sport and loves to teach kids acro and tumbling. Amy has been teaching for many years, and is certified in acro by Acrobatic Arts. She is in her second year of teaching at Misty's.

Miss Sandy Averill

Miss Sandy has been with MDU for 17 years. She is our Front Desk manager as well as Miss Misty’s mom! Sandy is the friendly face you will see at our front desk always happy to help. She enjoys the warmth and camaraderie of the families and staff at MDU and watching our students grow throughout the years.

Miss Kris Nandory

Kris comes to us with 25 plus years of excelling in managerial careers. She started at MDU in 2013 as the Business Manager and Enrollment Coordinator. She loves working with families and kids! She manages student enrollment, studio emails, family accounts, student attendance, and more!

Miss Toni Key

Miss Antoinette “Toni” Key has worked at MDU for the last several years as a seamstress, front desk staff, and as the Administrative Assistant for Ballet La Crosse. Toni has been a full time science teacher and a curriculum and technology leader in her school district for the last 21 years.  She is very excited to now have joined the MTJGD, Ballet La Crosse and MDU teams full time!

Miss Julie Vanucchi

Miss Julie is MDU’s Community Relations Coordinator. She comes to us with 20+ years of experience. Julie earned her Master’s Degree in Audiology and continued in the health care industry as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative. With a passion for helping people, Julie loves sharing the MDU and More Than Just Great Dancing mission with our community!
