Message from Miss Misty

Don’t be fooled by the cold weather! Things are really heating up here at Misty’s Dance Unlimited! Here’s a snapshot of all that is happening behind the scenes at MDU this month: The first floor of the new studio has been enclosed and you can really start to get a sense of how amazing our new home is going to be for families! We are working on summer class and camp offerings. We are getting ready for Parent-Teacher Conferences for our Graded Technique Students on February 3 & 10. Ballet La Crosse has started rehearsals for their Spring Ballet and our Performing Groups are getting ready for the competition season that is just around the corner! Thank you for being here! We love having you as part of our studio family and we are looking forward to showing you the fruit of our labors in the spring!

Message from Miss Shayna

Happy 2018 from MDU! The new year is already off to a great start here at the studio. Dancers and teachers are enjoying being back in the classroom after our holiday break and are looking forward to beginning Spring Recital choreography in the coming weeks! We can’t wait to share more details about our 20th Anniversary Recital celebration in the months to come. Please note that beginning in February, your monthly studio newsletter will contain important Spring Recital details including the show assignment for each class, dated ticket information, and more! While it is still very much winter in Wisconsin, our Spring Recital will be here before you know it! Stay tuned as we continue “A Year Long Dance Party” in celebration of our special anniversary and all of the exciting things in store for the years yet to come!

Conferences for Students in our Graded Levels of Technique

MDU will once again be offering Conferences for students in our Graded Levels of Technique (Levels 1 and up in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz Technique). Graded Level teachers will be available on Saturday, February 3 and Saturday, February 10. Individual teacher availability for these dates will be emailed to all Graded Level students at the end of January.

Conferences are an opportunity to talk one-on-one with teachers about your individual progress so far this year in preparation for Skills Testing. No appointment necessary! Both parents and dancers are encouraged to attend. Conferences usually last approximately 10 minutes per teacher.

Skills Testing will take place in Graded Level Classes the week of February 12-17. We hope that you will take advantage of this awesome opportunity to meet with your teacher(s) before that time!

Check out our lobby display featuring these dancers! We would also like to recognize this month’s other nominees: Cade Anneke, Abigail Gilbertson, Mandy Johnson, Gia Kantharajah, Aria Large, Anna Rautiola, Cameron Stegmaier, and Avonlea Stanley. Way to go, dancers! Keep up the awesome work!

Absence Reporting Reminder

Remember… you can easily notify us ONLINE when your dancer is sick, out of town, or will be missing class due to a school or family function! Visit the main page of mistysdance.com and scroll down to the black box at the bottom for the MDU Absences button.

This feature is also easily accessible via our “MDU Families” Team App! You can also CLICK HERE to get there directly. Our instructors appreciate you letting us know when your dancer is absent! Thank you in advance!

Inclement Weather Policy Reminder

In the event of inclement weather, a message will be left on the studio answering machine by 2pm (9am for Tuesday morning classes, 8am for Saturday classes) regarding the status of classes. An email will also be sent to all families with classes that day and a notification alert will be posted on our MDU Families Team App.

Please note that we do not necessarily follow school closings as roads are often cleared or weather conditions have improved by the time studio classes begin. Additionally, it is possible that schools could be in session, but we may need to cancel studio classes due to winter weather developing later in the day.
