DARBY’S DANCERS BUDDY VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED

Darby’s Dancers is a wonderful program for children with special needs who receive the chance to develop a love for dance and performance.  The organization was launched by Valerie Jones whose daughter, Darby, was an avid dancer. She had Down Syndrome and died of leukemia in 2013.

MDU provides classes, a teacher, classroom attire, shoes, and Spring Recital costumes at no cost to participating dancers. Each child is paired with an MDU student volunteer (buddy) to work with their dancer all season.  This is an incredible and rewarding opportunity to set yourself apart as you prepare for college entrance applications and future job opportunities.

2023-24 Darby’s Dancers Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings in Onalaska:
5:00-5:30 PM - Younger Group (Ages 3-11)
5:30-6:00 PM - Older Group (Ages 12+)

The first class will be on Wednesday, September 6th. Please complete THIS Darby’s Dancers Volunteer Application TODAY!

BAKE SALE

Mark your calendar for the week of September 18th! There will be a special Bake Sale at the studio with yummy home-made treats for purchase!  Proceeds benefit a wheelchair fund for Miss Kris’ husband Scott. Treats will be $2 each – cash only, please.

STUDENT LOCKERS STILL AVAILABLE

Did you know that MDU has student lockers available in both our girls and boys locker rooms? Locker rentals are available for the full dance year (August-May). Lockers are a great way for your dancer to keep all of their dance gear at the studio, have some quick snacks on hand for between classes and store their belongings during class. If you are interested in renting a locker, click here to review the guidelines and fill out the request form.

MDU PARENT & STUDENT COMMUNITY FACEBOOK GROUP

Stay connected by joining our private Parent & Student Community on Facebook!  This private group is a great space to engage with other MDU families and ask questions. Click HERE to join!

ABSENCE REPORTING

If your dancer will be absent from a class, our teachers and administrative staff greatly appreciate you notifying our team via our MDU Absence Form. This form can easily be accessed at the bottom of the main page of our website or CLICK HERE to access now.

LOST & FOUND

Missing a dance shoe, water bottle, or perhaps a ballet skirt?  Be sure to check out our Lost & Found.  Simply ask the front desk for their assistance, and they will direct you to it.  All items remaining in the Lost & Found on the 15th of each month will be donated.

PRO TIP: Be sure to label all of your dancer’s belongings with their name as everyone at the studio has the same or similar gear. Dancers should take all belongings into their classroom with them rather than leaving them unattended in the lobby or dressing areas.
