TEACHER VALENTINES

Valentine’s Day is the perfect chance to show our amazing MDU teachers how much they’re appreciated! We invite all dancers to join in this special celebration and share the love.

Here’s how to participate:

SPRING RECITAL DETAILS

Reminder: Our first round of important Spring Recital Details including Show Assignments and Ticket Sales Information will be published via email on February 21st.

Until then, make sure your 2025 calendar is marked for our Spring Recital Weekend of May 16-18 at Viterbo University!

CONFERENCES FOR GRADED LEVELS

Our second week of Skills Testing is currently taking place in Graded Level Ballet, Tap & Jazz Classes through February 8th.

Our annual Graded Level Conferences for students Level 1 and up in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz Technique will take place on February 22nd. More details about this opportunity (along with a link to sign up for a time slot with your teacher) will be sent to all Graded Levels of Technique (ballet/tap/jazz) classes the first week of February.

NUTMEG BALLET SUMMER PROGRAM AUDITIONS

MDU has once again been selected as one of The Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory’s national audition tour locations. Graded Level Ballet students ages 10 and up are invited to audition for the Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory’s summer program - right here at MDU!

Join MDU’s own Miss Amanda Schams who will be leading the audition on Saturday, February 22 from 9:30 to noon. Registration, check-in and a brief parent meeting will take place for the first half hour (9:30-10am).  The audition class will be from 10am until 12noon and will include pointe for dancers who are en pointe.

This is a great opportunity for any dancer looking to expand their audition experience and resume. Online pre-registration and payment is preferred to ensure you have all of the required items submitted in advance of the audition date. Registration details can be found on The Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory’s website HERE.

CRAZY HAIR WEEK

MDU Theme Weeks are BACK to add some excitement to the long winter! First up is Crazy Hair Week: Monday, February 24th - Saturday, March 1st. Dancers are encouraged to get creative with their hair for the week with a wacky style or added accessories. Please make sure that hair is pulled back away from the face so that your dancer can still fully participate in class.

INTERSESSIONAL BREAK REMINDER

NO REGULAR CLASSES will be held Monday, March 3rd - Saturday, March 8th for our second and final Intersessional Break of the 2024-25 dance year.

STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Congratulations to our January Students of the Month! Check out the TV in the Lobby Communications Center which will soon be featuring:

Other nominees this month include: Mia Bakken, Gabi Bartels, Halle Fulton, Kaley McCook, Addilyn Schwanke, Millie Thibodeau and Mira Weis. Great work, dancers! We are so proud of all of you!

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

In the event of inclement weather, an email will be sent and Facebook/Instagram posts will be made by 2:00 pm if our afternoon/evening classes are canceled (by 8:00 am for morning classes).

Please note that we do not necessarily follow school closings. It is possible that roads may be cleared by the time studio classes begin or that conditions worsen later in the day when school is in session but afternoon/evening travel is not advised. Any canceled classes may be made up on your own time from our regular schedule of classes. In the event there is not a make up class available, a replacement option will be offered.

ABSENCE REPORTING

If your dancer will be absent from a class, our teachers and administrative staff greatly appreciate you notifying our team via our MDU Absence Form. This form can easily be accessed at the bottom of the main page of our website or CLICK HERE to access now.

LOST & FOUND

If you are ever missing an item, be sure to check our Studio Lost & Found as it tends to fill up quickly! All items remaining in the Lost & Found on the 15th of each month will be donated.

Be sure to label all of your dancer’s belongings with their name as everyone at the studio has the same or similar gear. Dancers should take all belongings into their classroom with them or take advantage of our locker rentals rather than leaving belongings unattended in the lobby or dressing areas.
