BRING A STUFFY / CRAZY SOCK WEEK

MDU Theme Weeks are BACK to add some excitement to the long winter! First up is Bring a Stuffy / Crazy Sock week Monday, February 9th - Thursday, February 12th!

• Bring A Stuffy Week for Children’s Classes (3rd grade and under)
• Crazy Sock Week for Graded Level Classes (4th grade and up)

VALENTINE FUN

We have some SWEET things planned during Valentine’s Week (February 9–13) to help your dancer, and their teachers, feel extra LOVED!

Lobby Fun
Dancers can participate in a fun lobby activity, like filling out a heart or coloring a Valentine-themed page, to help spread the love!

Candy Grams Are Back!
Surprise your dancer with a special delivery during class on Valentine’s Week (Feb 9–13)! Candy Grams are $10 and available by pre-sale only.

• Each Candy Gram Includes:
  • To & From slip
  • Stickers
  • Candy necklace
  • Chocolate rose
  • Dye-free heart suckers
  • Dye-free heart fruit snacks
• Choose One Option:
  Option 1: Valentine socks & hair scrunchie
  Option 2: Valentine airplane & PEZ
• How It Works:
  • Fill out the order form before it closes on February 5!
  • Studio accounts will be charged on February 6
  • Your dancer will receive a SPECIAL DELIVERY slip in their selected class
  • Bring the slip to the front desk to receive the Candy Gram

Valentine Treats
Cards and candy will be available at the front desk -  buy one for yourself or share the love with a friend! (cash only)

Teacher Treat Bags
We’ll have special teacher treat bags set up in the lobby where dancers can drop off thank-you notes, Valentines, or kind messages for their teachers. These notes are a favorite tradition and provide so much encouragement as we head into our busy recital season!

INTERSESSIONAL BREAK REMINDER

NO REGULAR CLASSES will be held Monday, February 16th - Saturday, February 21st for our second and final Intersessional Break of this dance season. 

SPRING RECITAL DETAILS

Reminder: Our first round of important Spring Recital Details including Show Assignments and Ticket Sales Information will be published via email on February 21st.

Until then, make sure your 2026 calendar is marked for our Spring Recital Weekend of May 15-17 at Viterbo University! 

CONFERENCES FOR GRADED LEVELS

Our annual Graded Level Conferences for students Level 1 and up in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz Technique will take place on Saturday, February 28 at MDU. 

Advanced sign up is required. View the schedule and sign up HERE!

• Miss Suzanne and Miss Hailey have alternate dates and times available.  
• Pre Pro conferences for Miss Larissa and Miss Olivia will be held together from 11am-1pm on Saturday, February 28. 
• Junior Pre Pro with Miss Hannah and Teen Pre Pro with Miss Suzanne are encouraged to sign up for their already offered slots.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

In the event of inclement weather, an email will be sent and Facebook/Instagram posts will be made by 2:00 pm if afternoon/evening classes are canceled (by 8:00 am for morning classes). 

Please note that we do not necessarily follow school closings. It is possible that roads may be cleared by the time studio classes begin or that conditions worsen later in the day when school is in session but afternoon/evening travel is not advised. Any canceled classes may be made up on your own time from our regular schedule of classes. In the event there is not a make up class available, a replacement option will be offered.

ABSENCE REPORTING

Report your dancer’s absence directly through your Studio Director portal!

1.  Log in to your Studio Director account 

2.  Report an Absence 

• Click the three horizontal lines (☰) in the top corner of your screen to access the Menu.
• Go to ‘Actions’ > “View Attendance”
• Click “Report an Absence” next to the class your child will miss.

3.  Select the Dates and Reason

• Check the box for each date your child will be absent.
• Select a reason from the dropdown (e.g., Illness, Family Event, Dance Team).
• If you need to provide more details, use the text box.
• Click “Save Absence.”

Important: You can only report an absence before the class starts. If you're reporting an absence after class begins, please email Miss KP at kp@mistysdance.com.

LOST & FOUND

If you are ever missing an item, be sure to check our Studio Lost & Found as it tends to fill up quickly! All items remaining in the Lost & Found on the 15th of each month will be donated.

PRO TIP: Be sure to label all of your dancer’s belongings with their name as everyone at the studio has the same or similar gear. Dancers should take all belongings into their classroom with them rather than leaving them unattended in the lobby or dressing areas.
